| eWorkroom :Document Library : "Peer-to-peer document sharing over internet" |
| ERPWEB is e-Business Operating System |
Work Rooms: A document library is another example of a sharing application. It is similar to peer-to-peer file sharing facility provided in windows. Users can submit documents to a library by dragging and dropping them, e-mailing them, or sending them through a web browser. Because these libraries are stored in a central location, many users have access to the documents. Intelligence can be added to the library by creating a mailbox agent that notifies users when new documents are available. Custom views are available on a folder so that users can quickly find desired documents. Comments about the documents can be placed in the folder, and interested users can gauge their relative value. One popular example of a document library is a library of web favorites. A user can set up a document library to store a corporation's favorites in a central location. By dragging and dropping Internet shortcuts into this library, a user's personal favorites become corporate favorites. Plus, users get the benefit of being able to create custom fields and views that describe and categorize the favorites in the folder. ERPWEB offers one such document library by way of work rooms. There are other 3rd party software's available in such area called eRooms. You can go ahead and buy that if you require sophisticated features. We strongly recommend you to setup your personal internet based document library at www.intranet.com . It is more powerful then eRoom also as it has Personal Information manager build in it and it is free. Go for it. Use ERPWEB Workroom to store your important business documents on your own server and protect it from outsiders.

WORKROOM makes it easy for your team to discuss ideas and share information. And when the time comes to reach closure in a discussion, your team can take a vote to facilitate making a decision. Workrooms are automatically created for each documents in ERPWEB. People who can access this document can also access this workroom.
You can work in WORKROOM using just your web browser, which gives you instant access to WORKROOM without having to install any software.
The plug-in works like a Microsoft Windows application, including:
Double-click an item to open it.
Right-click an item to get its menu of commands. Right-click on any blank space in a box to get the menu of commands for the box.
Entering the ERPWEB WORKROOM:
Typically, an ERPWEB Document access coordinator sends you an email invitation containing the ERPWEB URL, along with your name and password.
Creating new Items in ERPWEB WORKROOM:
Menu Path: RightClick on WorkRoom Area --> Select New from menu --> Select Item that you want to create.
You can create many items in your workroom depending on your windows installation on client side:
Remember documents created in specific format requires all clients to have their document server software. e.g. if you have created an document in *.xls excel file format, means all participants of workrooms can only edit this document if they have Excel Document Server Software loaded on their clients OR can read if Excel Presentation server loaded on their client machine.
That means WorkRoom lets you use your everyday applications to create files, and lets you share those files with others who have the same or compatible applications. For example, if you drag an Excel spreadsheet into WorkRoom, other team members who have either Excel or a compatible spreadsheet can edit the file, and those who have an Excel spreadsheet viewer can read the file.
Opening the item from ERPWEB WORKROOM:
Menu Path: Select the item to Open in WorkRoom --> DoubleClick on Item to open it.
The item will open with appropriate server as per the file format.
WORKROOM and MS OFFICE
Office 2000 or XP and WorkRoom work together to enable new ways for your team to work together on the web. Office 2000 applications can save documents as HTML, so anyone with a web browser can use them. If you want to read a document, WorkRoom opens it in the browser. If you want to edit it, WorkRoom opens it in the appropriate application.
Individual WorkRooms appear as web folders in Windows Explorer and in all Windows file dialogs, so you can view and navigate WorkRoom from within Office 2000 applications. You do not need to enter WorkRoom to save a file; you can save a file by dropping it in an WorkRoom web folder. And if you open a file from an WorkRoom web folder, you can save it either in or out of WorkRoom.
WORKROOM Members List:
When working in an WorkRoom, you may want to get in touch with another member during off-hours, or perhaps you want to send email to that person. You can find information about other members or change information about yourself on the Members page. Just click the Members link on the ERPWEB MENU.
WORKROOM Access Rights:
