Presentation Servers are used to view documents of various formats & they are as follows :
- WebBrowser: Used to browse internet documents in html, xml, wrl, txt, asp, jsp & aspx format. Mostly webbrowsers like
Microsoft IE5, Netscape Navigator 5 etc. are available free of charge. ERPWEB & Internet is operated using these browser. Browsers are becoming universal document interface or you may say universal window interface. ERPWEB recommends you to use IE5.5 Browser for all ERPWEB related operations.
- AcrobatReader: Used to browse Adobe PageMaker made documents in PDF format. Acrobat Reader is available free of charge.
- MSWordViewer: Used to browser Microsoft Word documents in DOC format. This is also available free of charge.
- MSExcelViever: Used to browser Excel documents in XLS format. This is also available free.
- MSPPTViewer: Used to browse PowerPoint documents in PPT format. This is also available free.
- FlashViewer: Used to browser Macromedia documents in DCR formats. This is also available free as plugins to browser.
- MediaPlayer: Used to browser Sound & Video files in various formats like au, wav, avi, mpeg etc. This is build into windows.
- VirtualReality: Virtual Reality viewers can be installed in browsers as plugins to view wrl file formats.
Manymore browsers are available to view every document formats like autocad, visio etc on internet. They are either available as plugins or seperate softwares.
But it is becoming more important to have single presentation server with all above facility in universal interface called Internet browsers. It becomes easy
for users to learn only one windows user interface and computer training becomes more simple. Entire world is definately moving into this direction.
